1. What exactly does Spotlight Social do?
Spotlight Social is a social media consultancy that helps visual and performing artists make the most of their social media platforms. I provide customized strategies, social media audits, and ongoing support to build a thriving online community around their work. Whether it’s profile optimization, content creation, or connecting with like-minded creatives, my goal is to simplify social media for artists so they can focus on what they do best—creating.
2. Where did the idea come from?
The idea behind Spotlight Social came from noticing a gap where incredibly talented artists weren’t fully optimizing or making the best use of their social media platforms. Many artists I spoke with felt overwhelmed by the noise of social media and didn’t know how to stand out or engage with their audience authentically. I saw this as an opportunity to step in and help them harness social media in a way that not only boosts their visibility but also fosters a real, supportive community around their art.
3. What makes Spotlight Social stand out from competitors?
I don’t really view others as competition, to be honest. If there are consultants out there helping artists achieve the reach they deserve, that makes me happy! What makes Spotlight Social stand out is that my approach is deeply rooted in building authentic relationships and fostering a sense of community. I’m passionate about supporting artists in a way that’s personal and tailored to their unique needs, and I pride myself on being approachable, hands-on, and genuinely invested in their success.
4. What realistic goals does Spotlight Social have for 2025?
In 2025, Spotlight Social is focused on making meaningful connections, both with artists and within the broader arts community. My aim is to build a loyal, engaged community where artists not only thrive but feel supported and empowered. Gaining trust is key, and I want to continue refining my services to ensure that artists see real, tangible growth. It’s all about building relationships and helping artists achieve sustainable success on their terms.
5. What are common misconceptions about your industry?
In the arts and entertainment world, a common misconception is that artists need to constantly chase trends or “go viral” to succeed. The truth is, the most impactful growth comes from being authentic and consistent—focusing on quality connections rather than quick wins. When it comes to social media consultancy, many people think it’s just about crafting captions, posting photos, and throwing in some hashtags. In reality, it’s a blend of strategy, psychology, and creativity. Social media success requires understanding your audience, creating content that resonates with them, and nurturing engagement over time. It’s not about gaming the algorithm; it’s about building relationships and telling a story that people want to be part of.
