Four talented Mississauga artists create a summer anthem for Canada

Canada’s catchy and cool unofficial summer anthem is here! Four of Mississauga’s top emerging songwriters have come together to create a song celebrating the nation’s 150th Anniversary and beyond. The new track entitled, “We Are the North” is a song about hope, unity and diversity, Canada’s greatest strengths.

We've listened to the track a few times already and it's very well written with meaningful lyrics and a catchy tune, all brought together by four very different artists with a common goal; to celebrate Canada's strengths as a nation.

"We Are the North" was penned by a new musical collective known as From Far & Wide. The group is comprised of award-winning musician and television personality Arlene Paculan, singer/songwriter Matt Zaddy, Hip Hop artist/producer THE iDENTiTY CRiSiS, and award-winning performer/arts specialist Heather Christine.

“We were inspired to come together to write a song about what it is to be a Canadian in 2017,” explains Matt Zaddy. “We are proud to be Canadian because our differences bring us together as a people and they are a source of strength. All of the artists in From Far & Wide were raised in Mississauga, a community celebrated for acceptance, open-mindedness and respect for equality. There are so many different cultures around us and this celebration of diversity is what makes Mississauga a model city for the world. In a response to this challenging period in history, we decided to write a song which would clarify and re-emphasize what our generation feels. The lyrics say, ‘We are the North, we are the Strong, we are Together and we are FREE.’"

Here's the video...expect to see it all over Mississauga, Ontario and Canada very, very soon!
