What are your top 3 campaign priorities and why?
I’ve been out in Erin Mills, listening to people at their doors. What I’ve heard is clear: people are feeling the pressure, from rising costs to the housing crisis, and they don’t feel represented by their officials. I took that to heart. My campaign is about the people I’ve met and the conversations I’ve had. They asked me to take action, to push for real affordability, real housing solutions, and to stand firm for human rights alongside them, and that is what I will do.
Tackling High Prices: I’m on your side, and I want to put more money back in your pockets. Grocery prices have jumped over 20% since 2021, and it’s hurting working people. That’s why I will call for price caps on groceries and essentials, and I will fight to strengthen labour rights. On average, union jobs pay 11% more than their non-union counterparts. With growing uncertainty around U.S. tariffs, we need a government and an economy that has our back.
Making Housing Affordable: Housing is a right, not a commodity. In Ontario, the average home now costs over $840,000. I will fight for public investment in co-op and non-market housing built with public funds to stay affordable. The housing market has turned into a playground for investors, making homes speculative assets instead of shelter. I will push for rent controls and a ban on investors buying up homes.
Standing Up for Human Rights: As Canadians, we are proud of our peacekeeping legacy and we have a history of advocating for justice and equality. I want to maintain our legacy and work hard to defend it. I’ve heard from Canadians, and we refuse to stand by as the injustice and oppression in Palestine continues. I will call for a fulltwo-way arms embargo on Israel and an end to any involvement in illegal settlements. We stand with Ukrainians and I will support all efforts to help Ukrainians defend their land and dignity. Canadians are ready to be at the forefront of peace and justice everywhere in the world, because that’s who we are.
How do you plan to actively involve and include residents in community decisions?
My goal in office will always be to bring together the diverse and vibrant community that Mississauga-Erin Mills is blessed with. I will maintain a policy of not turning anyone away, to make sure that no one is left behind. I will be on the ground, at universities, parks, and events, listening, talking, and staying connected to our community and supporting local initiatives. My door will always be open, and my constituents can discuss their concerns or ideas with me in person, on the phone, over email, or through social media. I will be sure to provide constant updates on my work in Ottawa, organizing events when possible, engaging youth through programs and outreach, and making space for people to celebrate, come together, and speak out.
What sets you apart from the other candidates?
I grew up in Mississauga-Erin Mills, I know the community here, and I know your struggles. And the more I hear from you, the more I hear the same challenges. Students have reached out to tell me how hard life has become, and one university student went so far as to say he feels like an “economic minority” in his own city. Community members all over are sharing how they feel like the economy is working against them, and how their wages can’t keep up with the cost of living. I’ve felt the same pressures of rising bills and limited economic growth, and I know how isolating it feels. I don’t want anyone to feel like they’ve been left behind. I have been where you are, and I’ve stood on the streets with other Canadians, voicing frustration with the lack of action and the empty words of support. I’m here to protect our community by providing you with a voice that carries. I’m pushing for public investment in housing instead of more tax cuts for investors. I’m calling for price caps on groceries and essentials because people deserve to live without constant financial stress. You have a real choice with someone from your own community, who will speak up, stand firm, and work for you.
