Hood Strong was created through a community collaboration in response to COVID-19, developed to promote independent businesses and support local food banks.

Many uncertainties were created by the COVID-19 health and economic emergency but Canadians are resilient and we will get through this together. A pilot project is being launched to support local businesses and help give a hand up to the community in need.

#HoodStrong is an initiative designed to promote local businesses through the sale of gift certificates on-line. Funds from each transaction are transferred directly to the merchant and a percentage of the proceeds in support of The Mississauga Food Bank.

QUICK FACTS

· Who Can Join | This campaign supports any independent business operating in Canada

· How It Works | Neighbours can support their favourite business by purchasing a gift certificate. A percentage of the proceeds will be donated to a local food bank.

· Expiration Date | The gift certificate can be redeemed during the lifetime of the business. The certificate expires if the business does not survive the COVID-19 health & economic emergency.
