What to expect when Square One reopens
/Mississauga’s Square One will be reopening on March 8, 2021 with the health and safety of customers, retail employees and mall employees top of mind. Shoppers should be aware of the changes happening here.
“Retail is an important economic sector, and we are optimistic about the resumption of in-store shopping with capacity limits,” said Bradley Jones, Head of Retail, Oxford Properties. “A visit to the mall will be different when our centres reopen and the public should know what to expect. We are working closely with government and public health to ensure that the reopening of Square One is successful and done with the greatest attention to public health guidelines.”
There are notable changes to how people arrive and enter. Everyone should check shopSQUAREONE.com to verify what to expect and how to plan a visit.
There are public health measures and Oxford’s digital tools and services available to support the shopping experience upon reopening, that include:
Capacity limits
Shopping centres can only accommodate 25 percent of usual capacity, and that includes employees. These limits are prescribed by the provincial government and local public health authorities as appropriate for maintaining social distancing for the health and safety of everyone in the centre.
Retailers also have store capacity limits based on public health or corporate health and safety policies. Many retailers have line management systems that help minimize wait times by allowing shoppers to receive text notifications when they can enter. This helps reduce crowding and allows shoppers to make the most of their time.
Online capacity meters and guidelines
Plan before you leave.
shopSQUAREONE.com has live capacity meters at the top of their landing pages. These capacity meters reflect current capacity limits in real time and offer shoppers an idea of what to expect when they arrive.
Designated entrances & health attestations
As required by government and public health regulations, all customers will be screened prior to entering. To avoid delay, we encourage guests to complete the Ontario Screening Questionnaire prior to arrival. After completing the survey, present the “you can go” verification to the screener at the door. Not all doors will be open so please refer to the website to verify which entrances are open.
Curbside Pickup
Many stores are continuing to offer curbside pickup with dedicated stalls. Participating retailers can be found on the shopping centre’s website under the Square One Curbside pages along with a map of the locations. Purchases and pickups are made directly with each retailer.
Streamline visits
Digital tools and services are an important part of a safer shopping experience and assist with researching and planning so customers can arrive with clear objectives and leave with completed shopping lists. All these digital tools are available on the Square One website.
