Eataly Opens New Location Beside Mississauga at Sherway Gardens

World-famous Italian marketplace, Eataly, with nearly 50 world-wide locations, has a new location beside Mississauga.
Their new massive 25,000 square-foot location at CF Sherway Gardens is their latest location and will swing open the doors on Thursday, November 2nd at 3 P.M.

This second Toronto spot features two restaurants, five counters, a mozzarella lab, a wide selection of house-made Italian and Canadian products, a gelato bar, coffee bar and more.

Tommaso Brusò, CEO of Eataly North America says “Eataly reflects the most authentic experience of Italian cuisine, and Toronto shares our passion for high quality food, drink, and experience. We knew when launching in Canada in 2019 that this would be an important market for us, and the last four years have continually reinforced this…The store at Sherway Gardens is a special one: Toronto is one of the only two cities in North America where we have opened more than one location. (November 2019 saw the opening of Eataly Yorkville.) At the same time, we know it’s just the beginning and we look forward to building our story in Canada next year and beyond.”
Spoiler alert: Eataly will open a third Toronto location in 2024 at CF Shops at Don Mills.

Their new digs are home to two restaurants, including the first Canadian presence of Il Pastaio, a fresh pasta concept with an open production space that allows guests to view on pasta being made by hand. La Pizza e La Pasta is another restaurant that is Eataly’s signature experience, with the same concept found in all Eataly locations in North America .
At La Pizza e La Pasta, visitors can choose from a selection of fresh and dry pasta, or watch pizza makers make Neapolitan-style pizzas made-to-order in the 900 Fahrenheit wood-fired ovens.
While it’s complete speculation, it looks to me as if there’s plenty of space for cooking classes and or presentations to be held.

THE MARKET

Recipes can be recreated at home by shopping the marketplace, featuring thousands of Italian and Canadian products including more than 100 types of extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar of Modena, as well as more than 200 artisanal pasta di Gragnano, tomato sauce, and a selection of sweets. Fresh mozzarella and fresh pasta will be made onsite, and a selection of more than 500 cheeses and cured meats will anchor a central island in the market. The Made in Eataly line of products will offer ready-to-eat, ready-to-heat and ready-to-cook products, from housemade sauces to prepared salads and family-size pasta dishes.

This location will also offer Eataly’s first-ever global panettone selection, which will debut in stores by mid-November.

A wine selection will perfectly complement the experience, with a Vino-To-Go section featuring hundreds of labels of Italian wine from all 20 regions, including favourites like Toscana and Piemonte, available for purchase along with food items.

THE COUNTERS

Guests on the go will have a choice of several quick-service counters with open seating:

● Il Gelato Artigianale, with more than a dozen flavours of fresh gelato made with local milk

● La Pasticceria, the pastry counter with a view into the onsite production kitchen, with cakes, croissants, and more baked fresh daily

● Il Gran Caffè, an all-day coffee bar

● La Panetteria & Pizza alla Pala, a joint counter offering a variety of bread baked in house, as well as panini and Roman-style pizza alla pala

WHY SHERWAY GARDENS?
Eataly chose CF Sherway Gardens for its new location as Sherway recently experienced a noteworthy renovation and expansion. The upscale, premium shopping hub matches well with Eataly’s clientele. Plus, it was a natural fit as previous tenant Pickle Barrel had closed their lid in 2022.

WILL MISSISSAUGA GET AN EATALY LOCATION?
Probably not. Square One, which has shifted toward being a premium shopping location itself, is too close in proximity to Sherway Gardens.
How close? 9.2 km if we’re being specific, as per Google Maps.
That being Sherway lands on the far western side of Toronto, so while it’s not specifically Mississauga, it’s a bit over one km from the Toronto border.
