Voter turnout in Mississauga’s advanced voting up a staggering 42 per cent
/This past weekend saw a significant increase in voter turnout at Mississauga City Hall, marking a 42 per cent increase compared to the first three days of advance polling in the 2022 municipal election. Just over 2,250 voters voted early.
With the first actual relevant mayoral vote occurring for the first time in decades, these numbers are extremely encouraging.
Mississauga is know for it’s historically abysmal voter turnout, which is puzzling seeing as key changes and decisions for where we live happen at this level of government.
We’ve reached out to all mayoral candidates for a no-cost opportunity to have a profile created on them. Here are those who have responded so far.
Strangely, none of the members of council who are running have responded.
Here’s a list of Ward 5 candidates who have responded to the invitation for a profile, so the community can learn more about them.
More opportunities to vote early will be available on Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2 where advance voting will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 22 advance voting locations across the city. Voters can vote at any advance voting location. Voters in Ward 5 will vote for their Ward 5 Councillor and Mayor. Voters in all other wards will only be voting for Mississauga’s Mayor.
