In conversation with Mississauga entrepreneur, Fauzia Reza, owner of Solaiman’s Support Services.

1. What does your company provide/do?

Solaiman’s Support Services specializes in providing personalized nutritional consultations and compassionate personal support for individuals with developmental disabilities. We also offer dedicated companionship care services to enhance the well-being of seniors.

2. What inspired you to start your company?

The inspiration for this business came from raising my son, Solaiman, who has significant autism. He has faced various health challenges and does not always tolerate pharmaceutical drugs well. I studied holistic nutrition to better support him.

As well, for years, I struggled to find the right personal/respite support for him. When I could not find a suitable match, I began hiring and training staff myself. I soon realized that Solaiman thrived when cared for by compassionate, skilled workers. Encouraged by this success, I turned my experience into a dedicated business. Through Solaiman’s Support Services, I now combine my expertise and personal journey to provide customized support for families facing similar challenges.

3. What's been the most impactful lesson you've learned being an entrepreneur?

Starting a business for the first time comes with a steep learning curve. It can seem overwhelming sometimes, but it is important to remain grounded and keep going. Educating oneself on different business concepts and staying updated is important.

4. How do you unwind?

Long drives, spending time with family, gardening.

5. What succinct advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?


Let your passion guide you. Commit to learning and growing. Stay focused on your vision as you navigate the ebb and flow of your journey. Keep the faith and let the universe unfold new opportunities.

Build revenue and brand value by making a meaningful difference in the lives of the families we serve.

7. How did the Mississauga Starter Company Plus program help you start or expand your business?

The Mississauga Starter Company Plus program provided me with in-depth knowledge regarding starting and running a business, provided ongoing guidance through mentorship and workshops, and helped me build a network of people with similar goals. The grant money facilitated my initial operating expenses. Winning the pitch boosted my confidence further especially since I had no prior background in the field of business. I consider myself lucky to have been part of this program.
