Lime Providing Free Rides to & from Polls in Mississauga on Election Day, April 28th, 2025

Lime announced today that it is working with youth organization Apathy is Boring to remove transportation barriers to activate voters ahead of Canada's federal election on the 28th.

Lime, the world’s largest shared electric vehicle company with a strong Mississauga presence, has a “Lime To The Polls” campaign in collaboration with non-partisan, youth-led charitable organization Apathy is Boring for Canada’s 2025 Federal Election.
The goal is to boost voter participation efforts across the country while providing riders with sustainable transportation to and from polling locations on Election Day.
Given the abysmal historically low voter turnout, here’s hoping this motivates more to cast their vote.

In Mississauga, and all other cities where Lime operates, Lime will offer riders two free 30-minute rides to help them get to and from their polling place.

Voters in Mississauga can use the code 'WECANVOTE' to access two free 30-minute rides to help them get to and from their polling location.

This free two-ride promo is valid from 12:00 am till 11:59 pm on Monday April 28, 2025.

  • According to Elections Canada's Estimation of Voter Turnout by Age Group, 46.7% of young electors aged 18 to 24 voted in the 2021 federal election, which is lower than any other age group. Electors aged 18 to 24 who were eligible to vote for the first time in 2021 voted at a slightly lower rate (44.7%) than 18-to-24-year-olds who had been eligible to vote in a previous federal general election (47.4%).

  • Voter turnout among electors aged 18 to 24 was 7.2 points lower in 2021 compared to 2019 (53.9%) and 10.4 points lower than in 2015 (57.1%). Still, youth turnout remained above the average (45.1%) observed since the 2004 election, when Elections Canada began producing estimates of turnout by age.

Lime aims to serve as a non-partisan resource to encourage voters to make their voices heard this election. Lime and Modern Mississauga Media are unaffiliated with any political parties or candidates.
The goal of this initiative is to get its riders to and from polling locations safely, sustainably and affordably.
