Mississauga’s Newton’s Grove School is coming up on 50 fantastic years and in fact, was Mississauga’s first private school when they launched in 1977.
Originally named Mississauga Private School, they moved to Etobicoke in the early 1980’s, a name change to Newton’s Grove School happened in 2012 and since 2017, they’ve called their location on Goreway Drive home.
The return to Mississauga stemmed from the needs of their growing population.

With an excellent, empowering all-female leadership team, Newton’s Grove School’s mission statement reads:

Our mission is to foster a safe and supportive community that challenges and inspires the minds, hearts, and voices of our students, enabling them to define and achieve their own version of success and make positive differences in an ever changing world.

Cheri Grogan, Head of School, on their philosophy of “Classrooms that Think” and its impact on learning says:

“I believe Newton’s Grove School is an exceptional school because of the strong relationships built between teachers and students, among the students themselves, and with the parents as true partners in their child’s experiences here.
This philosophy empowers students to become engaged, active participants in their own learning. By fostering inquiry, critical thinking, and reflection, we help students develop the global competencies they need to thrive. Whether investigating the world around them, recognizing and valuing diverse perspectives, communicating their ideas with confidence, or taking meaningful action, our classrooms are designed to inspire students to see themselves as capable agents of change—both locally and globally.”

Principal Eva Diab adds “At Newton’s Grove, we design learning experiences that challenge students to engage deeply, collaborate meaningfully, and take ownership of their education.”

How do they accomplish this?
Their enriched curriculum blends academic rigour with the arts, athletics, and leadership development.
As a result, this ensures that students graduate with knowledge, confidence, accountability and the ability to lead.
This well-rounded approach empowers graduates to thrive in university and beyond.

All of these philosophies are put in motion through their bright, modern facility by continuing to create the “ideal” learning environment.

Opened in September 2017 after two years of construction, their school is designed to engage students by welcoming them into a bright, modern, vibrant and collaborative space. Boasting state-of-the-art infrastructure for technology, health and safety, plus custom designed spaces for science, music, drama, and athletics, all surrounded by 100 acres of green space, the students truly are set up to embrace both school and learning.

As part of the second phase, a state-of-the-art Athletic Centre opened in 2021 featuring an approximately 32,000 square foot double gymnasium and athletic centre. This also includes large activity rooms, fitness studios, office space, and an atrium level running track that circles the second floor.
It’s quite the home for their well-established athletic program.

An upcoming third phase is allotted for a new high school space that’s pegged to be three storeys spanning a whopping 30,000 square feet.

A welcoming and inspiring learning environment is crucial and the new high school space will overlook the 100-acre green space and athletic fields of Paul Coffey Park.

Newton’s Grove School itself sits on over four acres with fenced in yards, and playgrounds, an outdoor basketball court, and a stunning ravine-side terrace overlooking a gorgeous green space.

This ideal location enables students to enjoy over 100 acres of fields, playgrounds, and trails, softball diamonds, soccer pitches, tennis courts, and a cricket pitch.
It’s quite impressive that students get to experience this daily.

Their extended learning opportunities help create a well-rounded educational experience.

They offers numerous clubs and specialized programs. For flexibility, they’re available after school, evenings, weekends, during March Break, and in summer.

Understanding the importance and impact of community, they’ve partnered with a plethora of local organizations.
Smartly, they generously offers programming to the community, well beyond day school learning.

Their pillars are designed to create a thriving environment blended with a smart, sound and proven educational approach. Add in the extra circular options and a superb staff, along with upcoming expansion, and these pillars are reinforced for success.
