6 fun things to do in Meadowvale
/Located in the northwestern part of Mississauga, just west of Toronto, is the village of Meadowvale — first settled in 1820 by Irish immigrants close to the Credit River. Later, in 1980 Meadowvale Village became the first Heritage Conservation District in Ontario.
In this guide, I take you through the village and explore some of the interesting, amusing and delicious places that can be found in Meadowvale.
Lisboa Bakery & Deli
Located near the intersection of Mavis Road and Twain Avenue and opened in 2005, Lisboa Bakery & Deli is, well… a bakery and a deli. Everyday, they feature lunch and dinner specials. These include delicious dishes like chicken, veal, rice, stews and pork ribs, ranging in price from $5 to $25. From their bakery, they offer their famous tarts, fresh bread, warm coffee, pastries and custom cakes.
Meadowvale Conservation Area
The Meadowvale Conservation Area, situated just north of Old Derry Road, is a park split into two sides between the Credit River, connected together by bridge. The west side of the park contains numerous trails perfect for a walk, bike or stroll. The area here is flush with beautiful scenery, marking it as a great spot for sightseeing natural wonders. Across the bridge, on the east side, sprawling picnic areas, a comfort station, seating shelters and barbecues are situated for visitors to enjoy.
Guru Lukshmi
Guru Lukshmi, located near Derry Road West and McLaughlin Road, is an authentic South Indian restaurant, serving purely vegetarian food in the form of flavourful South Indian home-cooked meals. Here, the dishes are a brilliant blend of flavours, colours, seasoning, nutrition, taste and visual appearance. The menu is largely comprised of signature dosa, jain and rice dishes, ranging in price from $7 to $20.
Derrydale Golf Course
Golfers of all levels, and those interested in learning, are welcome to try Derrydale’s unique 12-hole designed golf course. Generally, a nine-hole game of golf can end in a flash and 18 holes tend to be expensive, Derrydale has the solution with a reasonably-priced 12-hole course. Featuring 26 sand bunkers, water on eight holes, and obstructing maples, pines and weeping willows for that extra challenge — Derrydale gives customers more for less.
