6 Halloween events in and around Mississauga
/Halloween is creeping up on us quickly. Do you know what you’re dressing up as yet? Have you made plans for what you’re going to do this year? If not, don’t worry because I’ve put together a list of various Halloween events happening in and near the city.
Consider the following:
Halloween Haunt at Canada’s Wonderland
The tried and tested, Halloween Haunt is always guaranteed to provide a haunting experience. Every year for 14 terrifying nights in September and October, Wonderland gets transformed into a nightmarish theme park — complete with horrifying mazes, attractions, and live shows in addition to the vast amount of monsters on the loose and prowling the park for vulnerable guests in need of a fright. Abandon all hope all ye who enter here: face your fears, but risk losing your wits at one of the most truly creepy horror-themed parks.
Streetsville Spooktacular
On Oct. 27 at the Vic Johnston Community Centre, Streetsville’s annual Spooktacular event will take place. This family-friendly event invites you to bring your costumed witches, ghosts and ghouls by for a range of haunting activities, including crafts, games and et cetera. Children — ages 3-8 years old — will be captivated by spooky ghost stories, dance to some groovy Halloween tunes, and decorate their own trick or treat bags. The Streetsville BIA will also be collecting non-perishable food items from event-attendees for the Eden Community Food Bank.
Halloween Monster Mash
The Halloween Monster Mash takes over Mississauga’s Celebration Square in late October for a day of spooky fun for both the young and old. Lace up your roller skates for the Monster Roller jam on the rink, trick-or-treat around the Square or explore the Spooktacular Maze. Additionally, live music, food trucks, face painting, ghost story time and other seasonal activities will be available at this annual city event.
Habitual Halloween Social
The Habitual Halloween Social is taking place on Oct. 27 at the Habitual Fitness & Lifestyle gym on Mavis Road. Like last year, this will be an exclusive Halloween event hosted in Habitual Fitness’ state of the art facility. This is a drink inclusive event with early bird tickets on sale now for $50 at Eventbrite. If you’re more into treats and not so much the tricks on this Halloween season, then this might be the party for you.
Hogwarts Halloween Experience
Containing over 165 years of history, the Benares Historic House, a Georgian-style estate, gets a magical makeover for the Halloween season. On Oct. 28, wizards and muggles alike will get to enjoy a Harry Potter themed Halloween. Hidden magical beasts of Benares, Quidditch, Diagon Alley and the tasty treats of the wizarding world will be pulled from the pages of the successful fantasy Harry Potter novels and brought to life at the Benares House.
Pumpkin Parade
Lastly, on Nov. 1, Streetsville will host its annual pumpkin parade in its Village Square. Bring your carved jack-o-lanterns out for one last moment of autumn glory. Walk through the Square and admire other people’s lit pumpkin creations. A jack-o-lantern judging contest will also take place to find the best, most creative and originally designed pumpkins. Winners will get to take home prizes and, of course, bragging rights for their awesome pumpkin carving skills.
