Up first is OKAN in concert on February 22, 2019. Jose Ortega, Artistic Director at one of Toronto’s most popular Latin clubs, Lula Lounge, calls OKAN “One of the most exciting Cuban projects to have emerged out of the Toronto Latin scene [bringing] powerful vocals and high-level musicianship to their fusion of traditional rhythms, jazz and soul.” The duo behind this band are Elizabeth Rodriguez (born in Havana, Cuba), and Magdelys Savigne (from Santiago de Cuba). Their diverse backgrounds and cultures add a fiery spice to their compositions and performances that will get you dancing!

On February 28, 2019, Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba returns to Canada to warm your spirits in the heart of winter with a colourful combination of flamenco, ballet, contemporary dance and Spanish and Afro-Cuban rhythms! Comprised of seventeen superb female dancers and eight outstanding musicians and singers, the group were featured in pop-singer Enrique Iglesias’s music video for the triple-platinum hit song ‘Bailando’, described as “one of the best choreographed encounters” by Billboard Magazine. This February, Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba perform Made In Cuba, a flamboyant, musically fulfilling love story that will take you straight into the midst of colourful Cuban life!

You get a real treat on March 1, 2019 with a double bill concert! Direct from Cuba, Yaima Sàez Y Su Grupo effortlessly transcends all genres while paying homage to her indigenous Cuban roots; this is her only stop in Canada, and her voice will absolutely blow you away – don't miss out! Jane Bunnett & Maqueque have garnered four JUNO Awards and two GRAMMY nominations. Celebrated jazz icon, Jane Bunnett, is the founder and mentor of Maqueque, a group of female musicians “making a statement on the outmoded male dominance in Cuban jazz” (The Globe and Mail) but also give the audience “Afro-Cuban, booty-shaking world jazz” (Down Beat Magazine)!

Finally, on March 22, you simply can’t miss Arturo Sandoval, ten-time GRAMMY-winning Jazz Icon, six-time Billboard Award-winner and Emmy Award recipient (to name just a few of his accolades!). Arturo Sandoval is known as one of the most dynamic and vivacious live performers of our time, seen by millions at the Oscars, GRAMMY Awards and Billboard Awards. He desires nothing more than to share his gift with others who feel the same intense adoration for music as he does!
