The new Churchill Meadows Community Centre is an engineering marvel that plays with natural elements both inside and out. As you walk into the LEED Silver status Community Centre you are greeted with a Canada 150 Tile Mural. The 675 tiles were painted by community members during the Canada Day Together Festival where all products were donated. “After storing the tiles for four years, Councillor Sue McFadden said, the mural adds a little bit of home to our community”. Standing in the lobby you notice the big expansive Stramp, a beautifully designed and engineering marvel stairway/ramp. The Stramp, a first of its kind, was designed to be used not only for getting to the second level but also for programming and fitness. In fact, every part of the community centre way designed to be utilized. The building features a 25-metre, six lane infinity pool, triple gymnasium which offer spectator viewing from above, yoga studios, conference centre and state of the art test kitchen.
Outside there is a splash pad, a skate park, a very cool play ground that feature all natural elements, state of the art multipurpose court which can be turned into a staking rink in the winter and a Fresh Air Fitness circuit with rolling hills to lounge on and read a book or just enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Natural Wetland and beautifully manicured gardens.
There are two FIFA sized soccer fields with one being domed for all year use.
Plans are in the works for Stage Two that will feature a Cricket Pitch and tennis courts and so much more.
