Learn About IKEA's Smart Food Storage Solutions
/Presented in partnership with IKEA Canada.
IKEA is known for practical furniture and interior design, from full kitchens to side tables. Included in that are smart storage solutions, with nearly everyone knowing of/hearing about/seeing/having a classic BILLY bookshelf.
This modern brand also features an array of sensible and stylish storage options for your kitchen, and we'll look at three popular and handy items here.
Food container with lid, rectangular/plastic, 1.0 L 34 ounces
The biggest factor with any tupperware/food container is the lid. The container portion is pretty fool-proof. Flimsy plastic lids that bend, crack, break and warp cause frustration and make you want to drop them like an anchor.
IKEA's four-latch plastic containers eliminate that with sturdy construction via durable plastic that is strong, secure, stackable and uses a silicone rubber seal. Practicality is also high as it's engineered to be used in a microwave, freezer and dishwasher.
With food costs skyrocketing, stretch your dining dollars further with saving your leftovers and keeping them fresh for the next day or two.
I've used them for a few weeks and have exactly zero complaints!
Glass jar with lid, glass/bamboo, 3.3 L 112 oz
Unsightly boxes on your countertop or in your cupboards are just that. Nearly all of these boxed items don't have a proper seal/closing tab so it raises the risk of its contents spoiling earlier.
Enter IKEA's simple yet effective glass jar, great for larger items, such as cereal, flour, fruits, rice and more.
There's a choice of three lids; glass, bamboo and a secure four-latch plastic lid, just like the ones from above. All have a strong seal and look good on your counter or if you're out of counter space, keep it in your cupboards for convenient access.
I've used it for bagged and boxed rice and cereal without any issues.
Food container with lid, square glass/bamboo, 600 ml 20 oz
If you prefer glass tupperware over the plastic ones we mentioned above, IKEA has a solution for you. The classic square shaped food container is available with a variety of lids, although the bamboo, to me, looks the best and doesn't compromise on quality/freshness of what's stored.
Interestingly, the lid can also be used as a coaster and withstands temperatures up to 212°F.
The glass portion is dishwasher safe and the bamboo lid should be washed by hand.
I've used it extensively for leftovers and it's come through exactly as advertised.
