Everyone is welcome! Residents of all ages, families, and anyone interested in learning more about fishing and protecting our waterways are welcome in Mississauga.

The specific location is at Lake Aquitaine by the dock next to the Meadowvale Community Centre.

This Family Fishing Week is part of a broader initiative offering free fishing periods throughout the year, underscoring the importance of Ontario’s recreational fisheries and the collective responsibility to preserve these natural resources.

If you’re looking for more places to fish in Mississauga, consider visiting the Meadowvale Conservation Area, Streetsville Memorial Park, Riverwood, and Erindale Park.

If you’re interested in expanding your fishing knowledge, you might want to explore the Learn to Fish program. This no-cost initiative is designed to introduce anglers to the basics of fishing in Ontario.  This year Mississauga has the program available at Lake Aquitaine and Lakefront Promenade.

Please take care when casting your line, as it could accidentally land where it might injure both people and wildlife, such as swans, ducks, and geese. When choosing fishing gear, look for sinkers and weights that are lead-free. Lead is toxic. weights, when left in the environment, can be toxic for wildlife. When you’re done fishing, it’s important to collect all your hooks, fishing lines, and any other equipment or packaging. If you come across an injured animal, don’t hesitate to call Animal Services at 905-896-5858.

Family Fishing Day at Lake Aquitaine presents a unique opportunity for families to come together, learn about the environment and conservation, and enjoy the great outdoors.
