Modern Entrepreneur Profile - Mississauga's Amir Zad
/In conversation with Mississauga entrepreneur, Amir Zad, owner of biiiz.cards.
1. What does your company provide/do?
biiiz.cards is a digital business card platform that helps businesses, content creators, and entrepreneurs showcase their offerings, social links, and contact information in one customizable page. It combines the functionality of traditional business cards with modern tools like link-in-bio platforms, making it easier for users to connect, network, and grow their audience both locally and globally.
2. What inspired you to start your company?
The idea came from my own experience as an entrepreneur and professional software engineer. I noticed how fragmented online presence could be, especially for small businesses and creators. It was challenging to direct people to all the resources I wanted to share. I realized there was a need for a simple, elegant solution that would help individuals and businesses showcase their entire brand in one place, whether they operated locally in Mississauga or online.
3. What's been the most impactful lesson you've learned being an entrepreneur?
The importance of resilience and adaptability. Challenges are inevitable, but I’ve learned to see them as opportunities to improve and grow. Listening to feedback and staying focused on solving real problems for my users has been key to building a product that truly adds value.
4. How do you unwind?
I like to take walks around Mississauga’s beautiful parks, especially along the waterfront. It helps clear my mind and sparks creativity. Spending time with family and friends also keeps me grounded and motivated.
5. What succinct advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?
Start small but think big. Focus on solving a real problem, stay committed, and be willing to learn as you go. Networking is invaluable—surround yourself with people who inspire and challenge you to grow.
6. What are your goals for 2025?
To expand biiiz.cards’ user base both locally in Mississauga and globally, refine the platform’s features based on user feedback, and integrate new tools like analytics and ad monetization for users. I also want to forge partnerships with local businesses to support Mississauga’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
7. How did the Mississauga Starter Company Plus program help you start or expand your business?
The Mississauga Starter Company Plus program was instrumental in shaping the foundation of biiiz.cards. It provided access to invaluable mentorship, workshops, and resources that helped me refine my business model and approach. The program also connected me with a network of like-minded mentors and entrepreneurs, which has been a source of inspiration and collaboration. It’s incredible to see how much can be accomplished with the right support system!
